MH Toast & Coffee
Located on the 5th floor (east wing) of Berjaya Times Square, this is the smallest modern old-style kopitiam I’ve encountered so far. We stumbled upon it by chance as we came out of the elevators during our search for some place to brunch. Didn’t expect there was one here – and in quite a secluded corner, too.
I doesn’t really fit into the category of promoting “old-style” kopitiam, since its just consist of a stall and less that 10 tables for patrons. There were no procelain cups and saucers, no marble table and wooden stools. Its just the menu that’s similar. On the other hand, they also serve Maggi noodles (in various selection of seasoning, even!). The toast and drinks are common. They do have pre-packed nasi lemak, I noticed.
I ordered the set (coffee/tea + toast + half-boiled egg) around RM4.50 if not mistaken. Feels like ordering a McD breakfast set. I was surprised that they already cracked the egg and poured it into the styrofoam cup, pre-dashed with pepper and ketchup. (I was really looking forward to crack the eggs myself. That’s one of the main elements of a kopitiam concept, to me that is). Am I right?
So I just requested for the pepper and ketchup bottles, to add as required. Its the least I could do. Anyway, the service was prompt and I see that most of the patrons like to have Maggi noodles here. Perhaps I should have one next time. Cheers!
